Hello, readers of my blog «I sewing machine!». The topic of today's article - Sew suitcase organizer for needlewomen.

Recently, by happy coincidence, I got great prints — one of which Zhostovo painting on the felt (thanks Tamara!). And I liked the idea, to do something interesting — not just a handbag or makeup bag, and something useful for the needle.

Thus was born the idea of this suitcase with compartments and pockets for storage, which I want to share with you.

So, let’s start.

For work we need:

1. Felt, 4 mm thick — cut 100 x 50 cm (I have black).

2. Felt 1 mm thick — 2 sheets of A4 (I have turquoise).

3. Two zipper — 20 cm (for inner pocket) and 70 cm (for the suitcase).

4. Two colour threads to match the felt.

5. A pair of scissors.

6. Elastic band 2 cm wide.

7. Glue (I have a «moment montage», it is well felt and glue felt, non-liquid, and then firmly holding).

8. Two small buttons.

9. Adhesive cobweb (20×30 cm) tape or glue (which glue the bottom of the skirt or pants).

10. And actually print on the felt with Zhostovo painting (or any other which you like) A4.

The first grandfather I recommend to make a pattern on paper or, if you have experience, you can just draw the details on the felt. I for these purposes use junkware chalk (which, after Ironing it with an iron it disappears) — very convenient.

Scheme details:

housing suitcase 47х29 cm — 1 det.;

— item 26,5×18,5 cm — 1 for detail of the internal valve with a zip pocket and 1 detail print;

— detail of 10×20 cm, patch pocket — 1 detail. (from turquoise felt);

— detail 40х20 cm, bottom with partitions — 1 det.;

— detail 22х16 cm zippered pocket — 1 det. (from turquoise felt);

— the sides of the suitcase 2 det.: 2х69 cm and 3х69 cm (to them we are going to sew the zipper);

— 2 parts 4×7 cm (the connecting parts of the internal valve to the suitcase);

— the handle of the suitcase 16×2 cm — 2 det. (one black felt, one turquoise).

And here are details from felt.

Now you can start assembling.

Let’s start with the body of the suitcase. With chalk or basting thread proposed boundaries (dotted lines). In the center of the top apply the patch pocket of turquoise felt and sewn with turquoise thread. Do not forget to make a line in the middle of the pocket, thus we get two pockets.

Optionally,a patch pocket sewn over naliwajko, but not necessarily.

Here’s what we’ve got. It is the internal portion of the upper cover of the suitcase.

4

Now turn over the detail, and where we have a pocket on the front side attach the detail of the print. Intended to print was located in the center. Now we need glue gossamer. Cut out detail on her 5 mm less on each side than the item with the print. This is to ensure that the adhesive web not got beyond the borders of the print.

Then carefully apply the adhesive cobweb, then print. Still once leveled, looking to escape glue and print lay smoothly. Top placing gauze or a thin cloth and use the iron to glue the print to the felt (that is ironed on to the print). Then, on the edge of the print attracive decorative stitching. Important! Top thread — turquoise, bottom — black.

Here the face and the wrong side.

5

Now for the inner valve partition. Cut the rubber band 1 cm more than the width of the valve, that is 19.5 cm, We need two of these cut. Mark them on the felt, approximately the same distance from each other. The edges of the elastic band folded inside by 5 mm from each side. Pristrastiem. Then with chalk mark the line, about the width of 3 cm (or at your request). Stitch.

6

Overturn . At a distance of 4 cm (each side) sewn connecting parts (they have a size 4×7 cm).

The valve overlay them to a depth of 2 cm Pristrastiem.

7

On a pocket of turquoise felt and sew the zipper

From the edge with the connecting strips retreating 1 cm, the applied pocket see to it that it was located exactly. Pristrastiem. Important! Topturquoise thread, bottom — black.

I have found the embroidery, I decided to use it. But it’s not necessary.

Here is a photo from two sides.

8

Next, sew the flap to the case.

To do this, apply the valve to the base of the suitcase. Look to located exactly on the sides. The middle of the main part we have 5 cm, these borders are receding at 5 mm and sewn stripes (4×4 cm square) and cross.

Here bad seen.

9

Now sew the zipper to the strips — first one, then the second.

10

Next, sew the strips with the zipper to the base of the suitcase. I suggest to sweep away the details, so it will be easier to pristroit them exactly.

Attracive at a distance of 5 mm, first one side, then the second.

11

Then sew the edge of the zipper with the side wall. Carefully cut away the excess.

12

Here’s what you should have.

13

Now proceed to the inner part with the partitions.

In the diagram this part is marked by the strip width of 6 cm — this is our partition. Fold in the planned lines, thus the height of the partitions we will have 3 see Attracive on the planned line.

I did a decorative stitch, but it’s not necessarily possible to do the normal 2-3 lines.

14

Now try this item to the suitcase, look, if we’re a match, nothing more. Make sure that everything is fine.

15

Get the item from the bag and thoroughly coat with glue the wrong side.

And as thoroughly coat the bottom of a suitcase. Pay special attention to the edges and joints with septa.

16

Put item in bag (try to do it gently, so as not to stain with glue the suitcase) and carefully pressed around the perimeter.

Now just have to sew the handle.

Connecting the two parts of the handle (remember, they have different colors) and sew them together.

17

Sew the handle to the suitcase with the help of buttons.

That’s all. Our bag is ready. Admire, enjoy.

In the finished suitcase20.5 x 29 cm, height — 5.5 cm.

Thank you all for your attention.
